OTCA and Euroclima Launch Photo Contest: “For a More-than-Human World” to Highlight Indigenous Climate Action
The Organization of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty (OTCA), in collaboration with the Euroclima program, is proud to announce the official launch of the photo contest “For a More-than-Human World.” This initiative invites Indigenous and non-Indigenous photographers from the Amazon region to capture unpublished images addressing climate action and the conservation of socio-biodiversity. The contest aims to amplify the voices of Indigenous Peoples and highlight their fundamental role in the fight against climate change, emphasizing the importance of ancestral knowledge, sustainable practices, and the protection of ecosystems.
Participants will have the opportunity to submit up to three photographs per category —documentary and artistic— that reflect vital themes such as the preservation of forests and biodiversity, gender perspectives in climate action, and the interconnectedness of human rights and nature. This contest represents a unique opportunity for those wishing to portray the deep relationship between Amazonian communities and their natural environment while also promoting a socio-ecological transition toward a more balanced and sustainable future.
Winners of the contest will receive prizes of up to 350 euros, and their works will be exhibited at the 16th United Nations Conference on Biological Diversity (COP16 CBD) in Cali, Colombia. Additionally, the works will be featured in a virtual exhibition organized by the OTCA, providing a platform for these impactful images to reach a wider audience.
Interested parties can find the contest rules and participation details on the contest website https://otca.org/concursofotografico/en. The deadline for submitting works is September 20th, so don’t miss the opportunity to be part of this important initiative and contribute to the visibility of Indigenous climate action.
Capture, share, and be part of the change!
