Above the treetops

Madidi National Park in Bolivia harbors extraordinary biodiversity. Its protection is vital for the conservation of numerous species of wildlife and flora. Juan de la Cruz Supa Puro, from the Tacana Indigenous people, was born in the Madidi Integrated Management Natural Area and still lives there. The jungle is his home. Juan learned the traditional way of life from his ancestors and continues to value and practice it. However, in the face of multiple contemporary challenges, he sees the need to create new income opportunities for the Indigenous people of Madidi, such as ecotourism.
