Riverside House

The photo portrays a straw house of a riverside dweller on the banks of the Iriri River, in the Xingu River Basin. The necessity of survival and a lack of knowledge—or even unawareness—lead him to set fire to clear land for planting, without realizing the danger he places his own house and family in. However, this action is part of the daily life of people living along the rivers of the Amazon.
