The Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) will be present at the international forum with the exhibition “Amazon Cooperation: successful initiatives for sustainable development in the region”, with 10 info-graphics that show the regional activities that the ACTO develops and the positive impacts of cooperation efforts in the preservation and sustainable development of the Amazon region, and the well-being of its population.
Each slide summarizes the results of initiatives in the areas of the environment, monitoring of the deforestation in Amazonian forests, sustainable management of water resources, conservation of biodiversity, protection of Indigenous Peoples and health surveillance in environmental health and support to the social agenda.
On June 6, at 03:00pm, the Secretary General of ACTO, Ambassador María Jacqueline Mendoza, will participate on the panel: Continental Amazon and Current Debate, in Auditorium 3, Faculty of Health of UnB.
The forum is organized by the Nucleus of Amazonian Studies of the Center for Multidisciplinary Studies of the University of Brasilia (NEAz/CEAM/UnB) and will composed by panels, presentations of papers, workshops, round tables and cultural activities.
This event seeks to promote exchanges with other entities and institutions of national and international representation to discuss and reflect on the historical process and the current situation in the Amazon region, drawing scenarios and pointing out lines of research, policies and actions of interests of its peoples, Traditional populations and communities. The event will include professors, researchers, entities, social movements and institutions from the Amazonian countries.
