The publication “Health Diplomacy and Covid-19: reflections midway” (Diplomacia da Saúde e Covid-19: reflexões a meio caminho), is the first of a series of five books named “Information and actions on Covid-19” recently launched by Fiocruz. Organized by the coordinators of the Center for International Relations in Health of Fiocruz, Paulo Marchiori Buss and Luiz Eduardo Fonseca, this book collects the global actions carried out to tackle the pandemic, compiling all analyzes produced by the Center for International Relations in Health of Fiocruz (CRIS/Fiocruz) on the multilateral responses to the new coronavirus. Divided into three parts, the publication allows public access to a scenario of international actions promoted to face the health crisis.
The publication includes contributions of renowned researchers from the most diverse areas of health, diplomacy, and international relations, that study the actions of bodies and agencies, such as the WHO, UN, and the OECD, as well as multilateral initiatives, such as the G20 and the BRICS countries.
More than 50 authors made contributions to the book, such as Nisia Trindade Lima, president of Fiocruz; Celso Amorim, diplomat and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil; Ana Lúcia Pontes and Ricardo Ventura, specialists in indigenous health; Carlos Gadelha, coordinator of Prospecting Actions of the Presidency of Fiocruz; among others.
