At the Fifth Summit of Presidents, the eight Amazonian countries that are members of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) consolidated the path begun with the Belém Declaration (2023). They renewed their commitments to the Amazon agenda, agreed on strategic actions for COP30, and strengthened regional cooperation as a basis for protecting the Amazon, ensuring the well-being of its peoples, and projecting their voice on the global agenda.
The program includes the Amazon Regional Meeting, which will bring together representatives of civil society, indigenous peoples, traditional communities, academia, and other strategic sectors. Two decisive milestones also stand out: the Meeting of the Amazon Cooperation Council (CCA) and the Meeting of ACTO Foreign Ministers, where joint resolutions will be aligned and the foundations for the Bogotá Declaration will be laid. A meeting of the Amazonian Mechanism of Indigenous Peoples (MAPI) is also planned, a fundamental space for reaffirming commitments and building the roadmap for COP30.
