On the occasion of celebrating on July 3rd, 2018, the fortieth anniversary of the signing of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty, regional integration mechanism pioneer in postulating the principles of sustainable development as one of its objectives, the Member Countries of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) reiterate their commitment to continue working together to achieve the postulates of their creation, which are the defense of their sovereign rights over their Amazonian territories, the sustainable development of the Amazon and the incorporation of their territories to the respective national economies, those that are fundamental to ensure the balance between economic growth and preservation of the environment.
