Brasilia, November 09, 2018.- The Amazonian Strategic Cooperation Agenda (ASCA) 2019-2030 was validated at a technical level by the delegates presented from Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru and Suriname during the III Regional Meeting of ACTO Focal Points for the Review and Update of the ASCA, which took place on November 7 – 8, in the city of Brasilia, Brazil.

The delegates agreed to submit the document for consideration at the XXI Meeting of the Amazon Cooperation Council (ACC) for approval, including the Methodology and Monitoring sections, at the end of November in the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia.

The ASCA is the main strategic instrument that guides the work of the Permanent Secretariat of ACTO. Its revision and update is aligned with the new international scenarios, that is, considering the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda and the commitments of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, among other international agreements related to the achievement of the objectives of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty.

The Meeting was inaugurated by Ambassador Norberto Moretti, Director of the Development of North and South America of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federative Republic of Brazil and by Ambassador María Jacqueline Mendoza, Secretary General of the PS/ACTO.
