Specialists from the Amazon countries discuss the progress of the Regional Hydrometeorological Network

Brasilia, November 19, 2018.- Specialists from the institutions of the ACTO Member Countries that work in the area of water resources are participating in the Technical Meeting: Discussions on the progress in the conformation of the Regional Hydrometeorological Network of the Amazon Basin, in Brasilia, Brazil until Thursday , November 23.

The objectives of this event consist of the presentations of proposals for the storage and provisional dissemination of hydrometeorological data and information system model for the exchange of data obtained by the network.  Also, they include sharing the reference network planning methodology of the Amazon Basin in the Brazilian territory and establishing objectives and criteria for the detail of the Regional Network.

The main acivities are scheduled for the program such as the presentation of the Amazonas Project and contextualization of construction process of the regional network of the Amazon basin, as well as the evaluation of the Hydrometeorological Network of each country in conjunction with the planned network of the regional network.

There will also be the presentation of the GESTOR PCD, a system to provisionally store the data generated by the Telemetry Stations of the Pilot Initiative (National Water Agency – ANA / Brazil) and an evaluation of the project implementation and discussion of the next stages, among others matters

The Amazonas Project: regional action in the area of water resources is an initiative of the National Water Agency of Brazil (ANA / Brazil), the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC), the Department of Northern and Western South (DSO) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil and the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO), for the implementation of technical cooperation actions aimed at strengthening the institutions responsible for water management in the Member Countries of ACTO.
