The Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) and the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) held a face-to-face workshop with the aim of advancing the implementation of the Resolution XXIII, which seeks to establish a regional cooperation framework for the certification and valuation of Amazonian products, as well as to encourage the recognition of environmental and ecosystem services in the region.

The workshop, held on August 13 at IICA headquarters in Brasilia, was attended by the Executive Director of ACTO, Vanessa Grazziotin, the Administrative Director, Edith Paredes, together with ACTO thematic and technical coordinators and the IICA team.

During the day, ongoing initiatives were discussed and key inputs were gathered for the construction of a theory of change and a partner strategy that will be fundamental for the development of the regional cooperation framework.

The workshop also allowed defining the next steps for the formation of the working group in charge of developing the regional cooperation framework. Among the agreed activities is the holding of an additional virtual workshop to finalize the proposed theory of change and roadmap, which will be presented to the member countries for validation.

ACTO and IICA reaffirmed their commitment to continue working together to achieve the objectives set out in the Resolution XXIII and to contribute to the sustainable development of the Amazon.
