ACTO will hold the launch webinar “ACTO Regional Forests Program for the Basin and Amazon Region”

The webinar will take place on December 7, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (Brasilia time) in the Spanish, Portuguese and English languages and through the Zoom Platform. Register and participate in this initiative for the Amazon Region!

The Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) will hold the launch webinar of the “ACTO Regional Forests Program for the Basin and Amazon Region”, approved by the Working Group of the eight ACTO Member Countries: Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Suriname and Venezuela within the framework of the powers and mandates of the SP / ACTO.

The objective of the program is to “Promote conservation and Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) / Comprehensive and Sustainable Management of Amazonian Forests through actions of coordination, cooperation, and implementation among ACTO Member Countries; and develop the necessary capacities to follow the new requirements and deadlines of the global agendas of Forests and Biodiversity of the countries that make up the Amazon Cooperation Treaty”.

In this sense, the purpose of the webinar is to present the program at the national, regional and international levels and provide a space for ACTO Member Countries to detail their needs and expectations regarding its implementation within the ACTO framework.

The event will feature at the opening with the participation of representatives of the United Nations Organization for Food and Agriculture (FAO); the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB); the Executive Secretariat of the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF), the Representation of the European Union (EU) in Brazil, and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
