Manaus, September 11, 2016.– In order to inform its current and future activities, the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) will be holding the event on September 14 “Local Dialogue: ACTO Activities, Challenges and Plans for Future “at the headquarters of the Amazon Research Institute(INPA) in Manaus.
Among others, the Superintendent of the Manaus Free Trade Zone (SUFRAMA), the Government of the State of Amazonas, the city of Manaus, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), the Amazonas Sustainable Foundation (ASF) are participating in debate.
ACTO’s work is guided by the Amazon Strategic Cooperation Agenda (ASCA), approved by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Member Countries, with a horizon of eight years for its implementation. This instrument reflects the priorities of the Amazonian countries, according to the political and social reality of the region.
During the event, the traveling exhibition “Amazon Cooperation: successful initiatives for sustainable development in the region” will be presented. Each panel shows the results of initiatives in the areas of environment, deforestation monitoring, sustainable management of water resources, conservation of biodiversity, protection of indigenous peoples and environmental health surveillance.
