Alexandra Moreira meted with the CITES Authorities of Germany

Brasilia, July 1, 2019.-  On June 28, the General Secretary of the ACTO, Alexandra Moreira, visited the CITES Authorities of Germany in Bonn. In the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (Bundesamt für Naturschutz, BfN), where she held a meeting with Dr. David Harter, Susanne Kandert and Mona van Schingen, Scientific Authorities for flora and fauna, respectively, and, with Dr. Andreas Bardong and Franz Böhmer, Administrative Authorities.

The meeting was centered on the interest of the part and the opportunities of cooperating in the implementation of instrument of verification, monitoring and trade control of wildlife species though the information exchange, of experience and learned lectures, in the framework of CITES implementation in the region and of support to the implementation of Bioamazon Project, in which share operative subjects as  subject of electronic permission, development of applicative, technologies, guide for non-Detriment Findings for Appendix II species, among others.

Alexandra Moreira highlighted the possibilities of joint work and being able to count on the technical cooperation of BfN formally and, for mutual interest, to facilitate coordination with the National CITES Focal Points in the region.

Thus, the interest of both parties to strengthen joint work was stated for the contribution and exchange of technical experience from and to the regions, which would mean a strategic alliance with the CITES Authorities of the German government, adding to the important cooperation that always has maintained Germany with ACTO though GIZ and KfW.
