Brasilia, Sep.19th, 2019 –ACTO Executive Director, Ambassador Carlos Alfredo Lazary, attended on Friday, September 13, the closing ceremony of the International Seminar on Hydrology and Hydrogeological Cartography in Rio de Janeiro.
This event was promoted by the Brazilian Geological Services (CPRM) and sponsored by Ibero-American Geology and Mining Services Association (ASGMI), celebrating the 20 years of existence of Geological Service of Brazil.
The ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Mines and Energy, Bento Albuquerque, and in addition to the ACTO Executive Director, was formed by the Secretary of Geology, Mining and Mineral Transformation of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Vidigal de Oliveira, by ASGMI president of the Colombian Service, geologist Oscar Paredes Zapata and by the secretary general of ASGMI, Vicente Gabaldón.
During his speech, Ambassador Lazary highlighted ACTO’s work in the area of water resources, with emphasis on the development of the Strategic Action Program and the importance of strengthening integrated water resources management in transboundary countries of the Amazon Basin. He also mentioned the project “Environmental Protection and Sustainable Groundwater Management of the main Sedimentary Aquifers of the Amazon Region”.
