The Amazon needs an economy that generates prosperity without destroying the forest.

This axis seeks to advance a regional sustainable development agenda, grounded in the responsible use of biodiversity, technological innovation, and the value of traditional knowledge.

The goal is to strengthen inclusive and sustainable value chains that ensure well-being, food sovereignty, and dignified economic alternatives for Amazonian populations — always in harmony with ecosystem conservation.

Lines of action

  • Develop a Regional Strategic Agenda for a Sustainable Economy to guide policies and investments aimed at sustainable development in the Amazon region.
  • Design a Regional Program for Sustainable Value Chains, supporting fair trade, local value addition, and the strengthening of community-based economies.
  • Promote joint marketing initiatives to expand the access of sustainable Amazonian products to national and international markets.
  • Establish and operationalize the Amazonian Network for Innovation and Technological Diffusion, as a space for cooperation among governments, research institutions, and the productive sector.
  • Support geochemical and agroecological zoning studies aimed at sustainable production and the integrated management of Amazonian territories.
  • Foster regional dialogue on common frameworks for certification and value recognition of Amazonian products, promoting market recognition and competitiveness in green economies.
