New Secretary General and directors of the Permanent Secretariat of ACTO take office.

María Alexandra Moreira took office as the new Secretary General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (PS/ACTO) for a period of three years (2019 – 2021). On the occasion, the Executive Director, Ambassador Carlos Alfredo Lazary Teixeira (Brazil) and the Administrative Director, Minister César Augusto De las Casas (Peru) also took their positions.

The inauguration of the three directors was held at the headquarters of the PS/ACTO in Brasilia, Brazil on January 1, 2019.

The new Secretary General, Alexandra Moreira recently served as Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of the Plurinational State of Bolivia in Mexico, where she was responsible for the bilateral, political and multilateral agenda as well as regional trade and environmental issues. Between 2015 and 2017, she was Minister of Environment and Water of the Plurinational State of Bolivia. During her tenure, she directed and participated in the preparation, development and implementation of public policies, programs, projects and standards for the sectors of water, sanitation, water resources, irrigation, environment and climate change.

Before taking over the position of Executive Director, Carlos Alfredo Lazary was Ambassador of Brazil in Quito (2015 – 2017) and in Lima (2011 – 2015). In the previous administration, César De las Casas played the role of Executive Director of ACTO.
