The Secretary General of ACTO, Alexandra Moreira, held a meeting with the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, Catherine Colonna, and with Brazilian and French researchers, at ACTO headquarters.
This meeting focused on the scientific debate related to bioeconomy, mercury pollution, satellite monitoring services of water resources and environmental health in the Amazon. On the occasion, the Minister visited the Water Resources Situation Room of the Amazon Regional Observatory (ORA), which monitors hydrometeorological conditions in the Amazon basin.
This meeting was also an opportunity to discuss new possibilities for scientific cooperation between the Amazonian countries and France and took place within the framework of the Minister’s visit to Brazil.
In addition to the diplomatic corps of the French Embassy in Brazil, the meeting was attended by researchers Mercedes Bustamante, president of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES); Fabrice Papa, research director of the French Research Institute for Development (IRD); Jérémie Garnier, research director of the French Research Institute for Development (IRD); Jérémie Garnier, Professor at the Institute of Geosciences of the University of Brasilia (UnB); Helen Gurgel, Professor of Health Geography/ UnB; Jacqueline de carvalho Peçanha, former Municipal Secretary of the city of Paragominas (State of Pará); René Poccard-Chapuis, Researcher at the French Center for International Cooperation in Agronomic Research for Development (CIRAD), and others.
