ACTO is awarded for sustainable management of natural resources in the Amazon region

Brasilia, September 26, 2017 – In this Tuesday (Sep/26), the Secretary General of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO), ambassador María Jacqueline Mendoza received an award for initiatives of the ACTO projects to build sustainable management of natural resources in the Amazon region. The awards ceremony was held at the XVI Greenmeeting 2017 in the Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The Greenmeeting is an important forum to build proposition of solutions for principle socio-environmental challenges and economic questions of Brazil and the Southern hemisphere. From Monday (Sep/25) technologists, researchers, authorities, representatives of companies, environmental agencies, professors and university students, representatives of national and international institutes, as well as diplomats from various continents will participate in the debate in favor of sustainable development and better living conditions on the planet.

The main objective of the XVI Meeting is to establish a bank of innovative ideas and important proposals that result in sustainable, socio-environmental and economical business development. Also, setting an accelerating new startup among other technical companies linked to climate change, water and renewable energy is one of the topics.

The event will be continued until this Tuesday (Sep/26) at the Theater of Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) and not only the ACTO Secretary General, Dom Orani Tempesta, Cardinal of Rio de Janeiro, and ambassador of Norway, Nils Martin Gunneng, and ambassador of Canada, Reiccardo Sabone and ambassador of Swiss, Lars Honnas will also take part in the event.
