ACTO and Oras-Conhu agree to coordinate joint cooperation actions in vulnerable Amazonian populations

As part of the official visit of the ACTO delegation to Peru, ACTO Secretary General, Alexandra Moreira, held a meeting with the Executive Secretary of the Andean Health Organization – Hipólito Unanue Agreement (Oras-Conhu) María del Carmen Calle and team, with the objective of coordinating joint cooperation actions for vulnerable populations in the Amazon Region.

They focused on contingency health plans for indigenous populations, mainly with the most vulnerable, and with indigenous peoples of initial contact.

They also discussed signing an agreement to seek funding and implement joint activities in the binational and trinational border areas to improve health systems with emphasis on vulnerable populations.

Likewise, working on vaccination systems was discussed as a matter of urgency for some diseases that require the implementation of actions.

Another matter addressed was working on traditional knowledge and traditional medicine as part of the dialogue of knowledge, for the implementation of actions and management in the area of healthcare.

And finally, the training of the personnel of national health institutes and the improvement of the capacities of Andean-Amazonian laboratories for public management in health governance.
