ACTO will be present at the International Wildland Fire Conference

Brasilia, Oct.21,2019 –The Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) will be participating in the 7th International Wildland Fire Conference (IWFC), which will take place in the city of Campo Grande, in Brazil, from October 28 to November 1.

The conference that is in its seventh edition will be under the theme: “Face to face with fire in a changing world: reduction of the vulnerability of populations and ecosystems through Integrated Fire Management” and, among its objectives, knowledge exchange between professionals of different nationalities who are connected to the topic of forest fire management and control.

For the day, Nov.1st, a presentation by the Executive Director of ACTO, Ambassador Carlos Alfredo Lazary, on the Organization, is planned in plenary session 4: Indigenous and traditional communities and knowledge on integrated fire management. The forestry consultant, Carlos Salinas, also participates in the ACTO.

It is important to note that the conference promotes international cooperation and the reduction of vulnerability of communities impacted by fire, consolidating the global strategy for fire management and fire use. It also opens space for companies, scientific research institutions and specialists to expose new technologies, products and methods for fire management and forest fire control.
