ACTO will hold the webinar of Integral Management of Fire among the Member Countries of the ACTO

The webinar will take place on August 12, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (Brasília time) in Spanish and English. Register and participate in this initiative for the Amazon Region.

The Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) will hold the webinar of presentation of the “Memorandum of Understanding of Cooperation and Mutual Assistance for the Integral Management of Fire among the Member Countries of the ACTO (MOU MIF)”, approved on June 1, 2021, by the Technical Working Group of the ACTO Member Countries: Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Suriname and Venezuela approved within the framework of the competencies and mandates of the PS/ACTO.

The implementation of integral fire management is a permanent task and, in some cases, to be effective it requires an articulation between more than one country, while fires do not recognize geopolitical borders and can affect more than one country in the same event. The increasing impacts that fire in the Amazon have been causing over the last decades are the reason for the attention of different initiatives and specialist organizations in the matter.

In this sense, the objective of the webinar is to present at the national, regional and international levels the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation and Mutual Assistance for Integral Fire Management among the Member Countries of the ACTO (MoU MIF). Likewise, provide a space for Member Countries to detail their needs and expectations regarding the implementation of the MOU within the framework of ACTO; and progress in the conformation of the Amazon Network foreseen within the MOU; and that the different participating organizations, specialists in the matter, present their actions in the Amazon in such a way that the possibilities of cooperation at the regional level are known.

IV Block. Ongoing Experiences of Regional Cooperation in the Amazon Region.
