Brasilia, Nov.26th, 2019. –Alexandra Moreira, Secretary General of ACTO, participated as a panelist at the international conference “Dialogues on Water Management in the Americas”, within the framework of the XXIII Brazilian Symposium of Water Resources (XXIII SBRH) in Foz do Iguacu, organized by the Brazilian government through the National Water Agency (ANA).
The high-level panels in which she participated were intended to discuss the creation of a Water Platform of the Americas and the importance of international cooperation for the management of transboundary water resources.
In this context, the important work that the ACTO is developing in the implementation of integrated water resources management (IWRM) could be exposed through the different projects that are being implemented. Pondering in turn the work that the Member Countries that have done to advance in the generation of a Strategic Action Program (SAP) under a shared and articulated vision, which in turn has allowed them to define guidelines and priority actions to be implemented immediately.
One of the conclusions that the Conference will highlight at the end of this week as one of the main results will be the next launch of the Water Platform of the Americas as a management tool for use mainly by public managers, academy, researchers and public usually.
In the framework of the meeting, some bilateral meetings were held with the representative of the UNESCO International Hydrological Program for Latin America and the Caribbean, Miguel de França Doria and, with some representatives of international cooperation financial entities.
The XXIII SBRH, which will be held until 11/28, is the main event of 2019 in the area of Water Resources in Brazil and is a space to share and discuss relevant issues in the area, through professionals, academics and society.
