Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Amazonian Countries have a meeting in Ecuador

Brasilia, November 27, 2017. – Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Member Countries of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) will make the thirteenth meeting on December 1, in the city of Tena, Ecuador.

The meeting is held before the XX Meeting of the Amazon Cooperation Council (ACC) and the IX Meeting of Focal Points of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs in charge of the ACTO issues, which will be held from November 28 to 30.

The results of the deliberations considered at the ACC meeting will be on the table of the ministers. At the final of the meeting, the ministers shall approve and sign the Declaration of Tena, a document which will guide the ACTO’s job and reinvigorate the decision of the Member Countries to continue working together.

The meeting of the Ministries is held on the 39th anniversary of the implementation date of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty (ACT).

Background.The 12th Meeting of Ministers of the Foreign Affaris of ACTO Member Countries was held on May 3, 2013, in the city of El Coca, Ecuador. At the meeting, the ministers signed the Declaration of El Coca as a political support for ACTO in its process of revitalization.
