The Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) is the only intergovernmental entity dedicated exclusively to the Amazon. Created by the eight Amazonian countries, it strengthens regional cooperation to protect the forest, promote sustainable development, and ensure the well-being of the peoples who live in the largest river basin and tropical rainforest on Earth.
