The visit was also attended by Dr. Luis Francisco Sánchez Otero (Health Coordinator) and Ms. Sharon Austin (Coordinator of Indigenous Affairs) who, together with the Secretary General, presented the current panorama of Health in the Amazon.
In the different working meetings, were established between the two institutions work topics and the need to promote the ACTO’s Regional Health Agenda and to strengthen the work on indigenous and intercultural health issues, as well as the work in the Issues of Communicable and Non-Communicable Diseases, Neglected Tropical Diseases, Development of Sustainable Development Goals and support for minority, vulnerable and migrant communities. Work activities for border health and gender issues, management of demographic and Public Health information in the region, and subregional cooperation among countries were also proposed.
This activity was developed with the support of the Office for South American Cooperation of PAHO/WHO, with which the development of the interinstitutional work plan will continue.
