With the visit of the representatives from the Amazon Network of Georeferenced Socio-Environmental Information (RAISG), Adriana Ramos and Angélica García, the Executive Director of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO), Ambassador Carlos Lazary, presented the Amazon Regional Observatory (ARO) and its programs of action. Also present were the coordinator of ARO, Mauro Ruffino, and the indigenous affairs advisor of ACTO, Carlos Macedo.
In this opportunity, the potential for cooperation between both institutions was considered, mainly in exchanging information and work methodologies to strengthen the ARO. The common interest of both institutions was the regional vision for sustainable development in the Amazon region and overcoming asymmetries among the Member Countries of ACTO.
RAISG operates as a collaborative organization of civil society for the exchange, articulation, and dissemination of geo-referenced social-environmental knowledge and information from the Amazonian countries, in service of processes that positively link the collective rights of local populations with the valorization of the socio-environmental diversity of the Amazon.
