During her speech, Ambassador Jacqueline Mendoza highlighted the achievements and actions that the Permanent Secretariat has been developing within the scope of the Amazonian Strategic Cooperation Agenda (ASCA), which defines ACTO’s framework of action, as well as challenges and future projects foreseen and prioritized by the Member Countries. Furthermore, she emphasized the importance of signing the Amazon Cooperation Treaty and its impact on the region’s development throughout 40 years.
The Secretary General shared the floor with Ambassador Rubens Ricupero, former Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), with the former Secretary General of the PS/ACTO Rosalía Arteaga, and with Minister Paulo Roberto de Almeida, Director of Brazil’s Institute for Research on International Relations (IPRI) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The seminar, which runs until tomorrow, also has presentations and debates on development and regional cooperation.
