The Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) announces a call for applications for the position of Coordinator of the Amazon Regional Observatory (ARO), with the objective of strengthening this strategic instrument for the generation, integration, and dissemination of regional information on the Amazon.
The ARO has been institutionalized as a key platform under the framework of the Belém Declaration, with the mandate to consolidate data and information across economic, social, environmental, and cultural dimensions, facilitating decision-making and monitoring of sustainable development in the Amazon region.
About the position
The selected professional will be responsible for the technical and institutional coordination of the ARO within the framework of the ACTO Permanent Secretariat, promoting:
· The integration and strengthening of the Observatory’s modules
· Coordination with Member Countries and national focal points
· Governance and quality of regional information
· Timely and real-time access to strategic data on the Amazon
The position will also promote technical cooperation, knowledge exchange, and coordination with scientific, academic, and technological institutions across the region.
Required profile
ACTO seeks a professional with:
· Academic background in environmental sciences, geoinformation, public policy, sustainable development, or related fields
· At least 15 years of experience in coordinating projects, information systems, or regional initiatives
· Proven experience in interinstitutional and intergovernmental coordination
· Experience in the management and analysis of environmental and territorial data
· Excellent communication skills in Spanish and Portuguese
Conditions
· Duty station: ACTO Permanent Secretariat, Brasília, Brazil
· Contract duration: 12 months, with the possibility of renewal
· Modality: consultancy
