The Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) is hiring a Water Resources Specialist to provide specialized technical assistance in the Situation Room of the Amazon Regional Observatory (ORA), within the Amazon Networks Module, with a focus on monitoring meteorological, hydrological, water quality, sediment transport, groundwater, and other physical processes to be implemented. Additionally, the specialist will support the development of the Integrated Water Resources Management Platform (IWRM) (Water Resources Module 2.0), ensuring the continuous availability of data and information as requested and their respective analyses, collaborating with other thematic and technological specialists from ORA-ACTO, ACTO’s technical area, and ACTO’s projects.

Qualifications and Professional Experience

  • Degree in Water Resources, Meteorology, Geographical or Earth Sciences, Civil Engineering, Exact Sciences, or related fields.
  • Master’s degree in topics related to water resources.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in meteorological, hydrological data analysis, or physical process analysis. Experience with public entities from any of the 8 ACTO Member Countries will be valued.
  • Experience in database management.
  • Experience in the implementation or management of data management platforms, observatories, and/or situation rooms.
  • Experience in managing transboundary water resources.
  • Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applied to water resources.
  • Experience in preparing hydrometeorological and hydrological bulletins and reports on water resources, monitoring, and physical processes in basins.
  • Knowledge in the development and implementation of tools and methodologies for hydrological monitoring.
  • Knowledge in programming (R, Python) for hydrological data analysis and modeling.
  • Communication skills to interact with different audiences (government institutions, international and cooperation organizations, NGOs, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in at least two of the four official ACTO languages (Spanish, English, Portuguese, and Dutch).
  • A master’s degree in Water Resources-related disciplines and experience in scientific publications will be valued.

Contract Conditions

  • Type of contract and modality: CLT(Brazilian labor law), fixed value.
  • Remuneration: R$ 15,000.00 + t transportation and food vouchers, health and dental plans, and personal accident life insurance.
  • Start date: April 2025.
  • Location: The technical analyst’s activities will be developed at the SP/ACTO headquarters in Brasília (DF).
