The Bioamazon Newsletter n. 12 brings the technical note “In Suriname, a field study is being conducted to estimate population size of three parrot species”. It is a contribution from Serano Ramcharan MSc. (Bird ornithologist and mammal ecologist) and Marchal Lingaard (Ornithologist and General Naturalist).

Interest to assess for parrot species population trends has been raised by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), in order to responsibly allow exports of certain parrot species. This article shows the results from field trip assessements.
