The objective of this theme is the inclusion and participation of indigenous peoples and tribal communities in the management of their resources, under the principle of respect for the rights of indigenous peoples (land, territory, sustainable development, food and health security, land-use planning).
For indigenous affairs the following subtopics were established:
- Indigenous Peoples in voluntary isolation and initial contact.
- Protecting traditional knowledge of Indigenous Peoples and other tribal communities.
- Lands and territories of Indigenous Peoples and other tribal communities.
- New topics.
Within its short, medium and long-term actions, it also develops regional activities for the articulation of the Regional Agenda and transversal activities with the other coordination of the Permanent Secretariat.
