Amazon Regional Strategy for a Sustainable Development Economy and Alternative Economies

Implementation of OTCA Resolution 23

This publication presents the regional strategy agreed upon by the OTCA Member Countries to promote a sustainable, inclusive, and innovative Amazonian economic model. The document addresses the main challenges facing the region, such as deforestation and ecosystem degradation, and defines strategic axes focused on the sustainable use of biodiversity and the valorization of ecosystem services. It recognizes the central role of Indigenous Peoples and local communities and promotes the integration of science and traditional knowledge. In addition, it encourages the strengthening of sustainable economies and the mobilization of financing and positive incentives. It constitutes a key instrument for Amazonian regional cooperation and sustainable development.
