A Step Towards Collaborative Action Against Illegal Gold Mining: Assessing Its Socio-environmental Costs – the Amazon Region and Global Lessons

This session aims at raising awareness of the illegal gold mining calculator as a tool that has been adapted to several countries in the Amazon region and catalyzed regional collaboration between relevant stakeholders of the Amazon countries. The session also aims at motivating discussion and creating new partnerships to work collaboratively at a regional and global level to reduce the impacts of illegal gold mining on biodiversity and human health.
